The highlights of Namibia – The Kori Bustard

Discover the highlights Namibia has to offer in 18 days! You will visit the beautiful Kalahari Desert, the gigantic Fish River Canyon, the hardy Namib Desert, the coastline, the ancient art of the local people and Namibia’s unique wildlife.

Day 1: Airport – Windhoek (D)

Your guide will greet you on arrival at Windhoek International Airport and you will be transferred to Windhoek. Time permitting we will go on a city tour and explore the most popular landmarks. The rest of the day is at leisure. We will enjoy dinner in one of the restaurants in town.

Day 2: Windhoek – Kalahari (B/D)

Our journey leads us into the centre of the Kalahari Desert via Rehoboth and Kalkrand. In the afternoon you will be take part on a guided scenic drive on the farm.

Day 3: Kalahari – Fish River Canyon (B/D)

After breakfast we drive via Mariental and Keetmanshoop to the Fish River Canyon. En route you can visit the Quivertree Forest near Keetmanshoop.

Day 4: Fish River Canyon (B/D)

In the morning we visit the Fish River Canyon, a spectacular natural phenomenon. From the different view points you have the chance to get a feeling of the enormity of the second largest canyon in the world.

Day 5: Fish River Canyon – Aus (B/D)

Our destination is Aus. We travel through the fascinating Namib Desert via Seeheim and through Aus.

Day 6: Lüderitz (B/D)

Today we will explore the harbour town and the surrounding area. We will drive along the coastline to visit the Diaz Point and the bays along the way. In town we will visit the museum, the Goerke House or the ‘Felsenkirche’.

Day 7: Klein-Aus Vista – Sossusvlei Region (B/D)

We continue into the direction of Sesriem to reach the lodge nearby whilst driving along stunning landscape. En route we will visit the Duwisib Castle which was built in the middle of no where.

Day 8: Sossusvlei (B/D)

This morning we explore the Sossusvlei, surrounded by the world’s highest dunes. Experience the colour change of the dunes as the beautiful sunshine passes over them. We will also visit the Dead Vlei and the Sesriem Canyon.

Day 9: Sossusvlei – Swakopmund (B/D)

Once again the route leads us to the coast of Namibia. Drive via Solitaire through the barren Namib Desert with its unique eco-system to Swakopmund. We will drive through the town to see the different landmarks.

Day 10: Swakopmund (B/D)

In the morning we will go on a boat cruise on the Walvis Bay lagoon just 35 km south of Swakopmund to explore the marine life and having fresh oysters with sparkling wine. During the afternoon you may enjoy the day by either having a stroll along the beach, visit the Crystal Gallery exhibiting many of Namibia’s precious stones and crystals, the Swakopmund museum or go shopping in the city centre.

Day 11: Swakopmund - Twyfelfontein (B/D)

We leave Swakopmund and drive to the Damaraland via the fishers’ town Henties Bay and Uis to Twyfelfontein. We will visit one of Africa’s biggest seal colonies at Cape Cross north of Henties Bay and pass the Brandberg en route, which is the highest mountain in Namibia.

Day 12: Twyfelfontein – Etosha National Park Region (B/D)

We explore the vicinity of Twyfelfontein with its rock engravings and paintings, the Organpipes and the Burnt Mountain. En route to our lodge near the Etosha Nationalpark, we will stop at the Petrified Forest for a visit.

Day 13: Etosha National Park

In the early morning we depart for our first game drive into the well known Etosha National Park. We will visit the numerous waterholes and observe the animal behaviour. With a bit of luck we may see elephant, lion, rhino and most of the plains game like zebra, oryx, springbok and many more.

Day 14: Etosha National Park (B/D)

Enjoy some more game-viewing whilst driving towards the eastern part of the park.

We spend the day with game viewing in the Etosha National Park.

Day 16: Etosha National Park – Frans Indongo Lodge (B/D)

The journey leads us to the Frans Indongo Lodge in southerly direction just north of Otjiwarongo. We leave the Etosha area and drive via Tsumeb, a mining town, and Otavi into the direction of Otjiwarongo.

Day 17: Frans Indongo Lodge - Windhoek (B/D)

We will drive back to the capital city of Namibia, Windhoek, via Otjiwarongo and Okahandja. Visit a woodcarvers market in Okahandja.

Day 18: Windhoek – Airport (B)

Depart from Windhoek to the airport for your flight home.
