Namibia’s South – The sociable weaver

Experience the sightseeing’s of Namibia south in 12 days! You will see the world’s 2nd largest natural gorge, visit some of the world’s highest dunes and the world’s oldest desert – this is a tour with many superlatives. 

Day 1: Airport – Windhoek (D)

Your guide will meet you at the Windhoek International Airport. Transfer to the city. Time permitting; we will take you on a city tour where you will see the important landmarks of the city. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Dinner in one of the restaurants in town.

Day 2: Windhoek – Kalahari (B/D)

Flight over the dunes

Our journey leads us into the centre of the Kalahari Desert via Rehoboth and Kalkrand. You will take part on a guided scenic drive through the red sand dune landscape on the farm.

Day 3: Kalahari – Fish River Canyon (B/D)

After breakfast drive via Mariental and Keetmanshoop to the Fish River Canyon. En route we visit some Quiver trees near Keetmanshoop.

Day 4: Fish River Canyon (B/D)

Today we visit the Fish River Canyon, a spectacular natural phenomenon. From the different view points you have the chance to get a feeling of the enormity of the second largest canyon in the world.

Day 5: Fish River Canyon – Aus (B/D)

Wild Horses of Namibia

We drive through the fascinating desert to the village Seeheim and proceed to Aus.

Day 6: Lüderitz (B/D)

Today we will drive to Lüderitzbucht, explore the harbour town including the museum (optional), the Goerke House or the ‘Felsenkirche’.  We shall visit the Diaz Cross in the vicinity and walk along the Achat Beach north of the town. If we are lucky we will see the wild horses of the Namib Desert on our way back to Aus. These horses adapted to the harsh circumstances of the rugged desert.

Day 7: Klein-Aus Vista – Sossusvlei (B/D)

We continue into the direction of Sesriem with a stop at the Castle Duwisib, which is situated in a unique setting in the middle of no where.

Day 8: Sossusvlei (B/D)

Today we explore the Sossusvlei, surrounded by the world’s highest dunes. Experience the colour change of the dunes as the bountiful sunshine passes over them. We will visit the Dead Vlei and picturesque Sesriem Canyon in the Tsauchab Valley.

Day 9: Sossusvlei – Swakopmund (B/D)

Once again the route leads us to the coast of Namibia through the barren Namib Desert with its unique eco-system. We will reach the coastal resort Swakopmund via the harbour town Walvis Bay.

Day 10: Swakopmund (B/D)

In the morning we will go on a boat cruise on the Walvis Bay lagoon just 35 km south of Swakopmund to explore the marine life and having fresh oysters with sparkling wine. During the afternoon you may enjoy the day by either having a stroll along the beach, visit the Crystal Gallery exhibiting many of Namibia’s precious stones and crystals, the Swakopmund museum or go shopping in the city centre.

Day 11: Swakopmund – Erongo Wilderness Lodge (Brunch/D)

Today we drive via Usakos and Karibib into the direction of Omaruru to reach the Erongo Wilderness Lodge nearby. Explore the surrounding of the lodge by taking walks through the Erongo Granite Mountains.

Day 12: Erongo Wilderness Lodge – Windhoek – Airport (B)

After the morning activities and brunch we depart back to the capital city of Namibia, Windhoek. In Okahandja you will have the opportunity to visit a woodcarvers market. Depart Windhoek for the International Airport for your flight home.
